About Me
I am a Level 4 (master) Personal Trainer, advanced nutritionist and qualified CrossFit coach. I have over twenty years of health and fitness experience and specialise in functional movements. I am a CrossFit games athlete and currently the third fittest man on earth.
Now that I’ve shared all the technical “look at me” PT details, let me tell you what actually sets me apart... In 2007, I suffered life-changing injuries and was told by doctors I would never walk again. I was wheelchair-bound for many years and later diagnosed with clinical depression. If you’ve ever faced a similar mental struggle, I genuinely understand and empathise with you. For a long time, I sat in my wheelchair and felt sorry for myself. I went through the five stages of grief and came to realise nobody could say or do anything to make me feel better. It didn’t matter who they were or what they said. I isolated myself from everyone and became someone who simply woke up and slept. This was my life for what seemed like a long time.
I don’t remember what caused my mindset to shift, but one day, I realised that if I wanted something to change, I had to change.
Before this injury, I was a fit and active guy. The gym always made me feel better both physically and mentally. It took a while, but I decided to find a gym that catered to wheelchair users. I intended to go there and do anything that might improve my overall health. Whatever confidence I had was now gone, and during the early days, I felt embarrassed about being in a gym and being in a wheelchair. For anyone who uses a wheelchair and attends a gym, you are truly inspirational, and I have nothing but admiration for you, having done this for a period myself.
Over time, going to the gym helped improve my upper body and slightly improved my lower limbs. The most significant change of all, however, was my mental health. My mood lifted, my medication reduced, and I found purpose—I would prove the doctors wrong. Once you give yourself a purpose, motivation, discipline, and results will always follow.
It wasn’t easy, and it took many years but fast forward to the present day, and I can do almost everything that an “able-bodied” person can. In fact, I can do almost everything better than an able-bodied person can, which is why I’m currently the third-fittest man in the world. Not bad for a guy who was told he’d never walk again…
My point in sharing this is to show you that you can achieve any fitness goal you have. All it takes is the right mindset (and a fantastic trainer - like me). I am walking, talking proof that people can be proved wrong and the only limits are the ones you set yourself. Fitness and health is about the body AND the mind. In my experience, good physical health leads to good mental health. Don’t make excuses about why you can’t, make impressions with how you can.
Having been through all this and come out the other side, I can say what a lot of PT’s can’t… Been there, done that! I’ve been fit and unfit, motivated and depressed, hard-working and lazy, a winner and a loser. Do you know any other trainer who can say that?
One final thing… Personal Training is the same as other endeavours; you get out what you put in! It’s not cheap, it's hard work, and you won’t see any noticeable results for several weeks. This is the hard truth that others won’t share. I ask all clients to exercise for at least five hours per week. That’s not five hours with me (unless you want to); it’s five hours of total exercise, some of which will likely be on your own. Five hours will get you noticeable results and create healthy long-term habits. Intensity + Frequency = Fitness. Train hard and often, and you’ll get (and stay) fit!
Hopefully, I see you soon.
Danny
I have seen hundreds of Personal Trainers over the years, and for the most part, I am disappointed in their professional approach. I believe, if you are a Personal Trainer, you should look like a Personal Trainer. If your profession is to advise people on diet and exercise, you should practice what you preach by exercising regularly and following a clean diet. Personal Trainers are, in effect, their own client; think about this before you choose which one is best for you
I wanted to bring something new to Personal Training, so I developed HYBRID PERSONAL TRAINING. With Hybrid, your sessions will always be different. You will build strength, fitness and skill. You will work harder than before and push past the limits you thought you had. It does not matter if you are the fastest, slowest, best or worst. All that matters is you give me your best effort in every session. With my help, you will see what you are capable of!
